Michael Wheeler MP
“Serving the communities of Worsley & Eccles”
Michael Wheeler has represented Worsley & Eccles as a Labour MP since 2024. His path into politics began locally, shaped by a belief in fairness, community, and the importance of giving people a voice.
Before entering Parliament, Michael worked as a Political Officer for the USDAW trade union, supporting retail and distribution workers across the country. He went to Clarendon Road Primary School, Wentworth High School and Eccles Sixth From before studying at Lancaster University and has always been drawn to issues that affect everyday working lives.
Michael was first elected to Salford City Council in a 2011 by-election for the Eccles ward. He served as a councillor for ten years, focusing on practical, local priorities and building strong relationships with residents.
Since becoming an MP, Michael has continued that approach – listening, learning, and speaking up for the people he represents.
Michael is proud to call this community home and is focused on making sure Worsley & Eccles gets the attention and investment it deserves.
